How dermal fillers
work

Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid — a naturally occurring gel-like substance found in most tissues of the body. When injected into the skin, hyaluronic acid binds to water molecules to restore volume, improve hydration, and smooth out lines and wrinkles.

The natural ageing process involves a gradual reduction in hyaluronic acid content alongside the loss of subcutaneous fat — resulting in hollowness, lines, and a general softening of facial structure. Dermal fillers work by replacing what has been lost, restoring youthful facial proportions from within.

Restoring volume to the mid-face — particularly the cheeks — also has a lifting effect on the lower face, softening jowls and nasolabial and marionette lines without directly targeting them. This is the principle behind truly natural-looking filler treatment.

Doctor-led,
always

At Pelle Aesthetics, every dermal filler treatment is administered personally by Dr Sabrina. Filler placement requires a precise understanding of facial anatomy, vascular landmarks, and aesthetic proportion — the kind of knowledge that comes from years of medical training, not a weekend course.

Dr Sabrina uses only products she would use on close friends and family. Her approach is conservative and natural — the goal is never to change how you look, but to restore the version of your face that feels most like you.

Areas for dermal fillers

Cheek Augmentation

Restoring volume to the mid-face creates a subtle lifting effect across the whole face. Cheek fillers address flat or hollow cheekbones, soften under-eye hollows, and reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds — all without directly injecting those areas.

Nasolabial Folds

The lines running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth deepen with age as facial fat descends and volume is lost. Precise filler placement along the fold softens their appearance while maintaining natural movement and expression.

Marionette Lines

Lines running from the corners of the mouth downward can give a tired or downturned expression. Treatment here restores the lower face to a more rested and youthful appearance, often complemented by mid-face volume restoration.

Lip Augmentation

Whether adding subtle volume, improving definition, correcting asymmetry, or addressing age-related lip thinning — lip filler is one of the most requested treatments at Pelle Aesthetics. Dr Sabrina always takes a natural, proportionate approach.

Jawline & Chin

Defining the jawline with filler creates structure and reduces the appearance of jowls. Chin projection can also be subtly enhanced to improve overall facial balance — a particularly effective treatment for profile improvement without surgery.

Volume Restoration

Beyond specific areas, Dr Sabrina often takes a whole-face approach — assessing overall facial volume distribution and prioritising the treatments that will have the most natural and impactful result across the face as a whole.

Frequently asked questions

Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid — a naturally occurring gel-like substance found throughout the body. It is essential for the volume and elasticity of our skin. Hyaluronic acid binds to water molecules when injected, restoring volume, improving hydration, and smoothing lines and wrinkles. At Pelle Aesthetics we use the Teosyal RHA range, a premium Swiss-manufactured product that comes pre-filled with local anaesthetic for comfort.
Dermal fillers are suitable for adults looking to restore lost facial volume, smooth moderate to severe lines and wrinkles, or enhance the shape and definition of the lips, jawline, or chin. Suitability is always fully assessed at your consultation with Dr Sabrina — no treatment will be recommended unless it is right for you.
When administered by a GMC-registered doctor with in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy and vascular landmarks, dermal fillers are a very safe treatment. Possible side effects include redness, swelling, pain, and bruising — all temporary. Rarer effects include prolonged bruising and delayed swellings. A full side-effect discussion will take place at your face-to-face consultation before any treatment proceeds.
Unlike anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers work immediately — you will see a visible difference as soon as you leave the clinic. There may be mild swelling initially which settles over 24–48 hours, after which your final result is fully visible. Most clients are delighted to leave the clinic feeling instantly refreshed.
Hyaluronic acid is naturally absorbed by the body over time. Most filler treatments last between 6–18 months depending on the product used, the area treated, and individual factors such as metabolism and lifestyle. Most clients return for re-treatment after approximately 12 months. Dr Sabrina will advise a maintenance schedule at your consultation.
There may be mild discomfort when the needle first enters the skin, but the procedure is largely painless. Teosyal RHA fillers come pre-filled with local anaesthetic, which numbs the area as treatment progresses. Most clients find the treatment very tolerable.
  • Do not touch or apply makeup to the treated area for 6 hours
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
  • Avoid aerobic exercise for 24 hours
  • Avoid saunas and sun beds for 72 hours
  • Avoid dermal filler treatment within 2 weeks before or 3 weeks after any COVID-19 vaccination or booster
You will need to attend with a freshly cleansed face, without makeup. Dr Sabrina will begin with a detailed facial assessment, discussing your concerns and desired outcome. She will then inject small, precise volumes of filler into the agreed areas using a fine needle or cannula. The procedure typically takes around 30 minutes in total.
