FAQ

The science bit...

SkinPen Precision creates controlled micro injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing response which initiates the release of natural growth factors to improve collagen formation and cellular tissue. Collagen Induction Therapy assists in the rejuvenation of the epidermal integrity resulting in improved appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. SkinPen Precision can effectively remodel scar tissue whilst maintaining the overall structure of the skin.

There are three phases involved in the wound-healing process: Phase I (Inflammation phase) – The piercing of the skin triggers a response in your immune system which disinfects the wounds, increases blood flow and initiates new tissue formation. Phase II (Proliferation phase) – A new network of blood vessels develop in addition to wound rebuilding involving new granulation cells. Phase II (Remodeling phase) – The wound is replaced with new blood vessels and Dermal tissues.

Is it for me?

SkinPen Precision has been clinically shown to be effective for women and men with skin ranging from light to very dark. SkinPen Precision can help correct:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scarring
  • Melasma
  • Rosacea
  • Other scarring such as trauma or surgical
  • Stretch marks
  • Hyperpigmentation or irregular skin tone

How safe is it?

SkinPen Precision is the only FDA-cleared microneedling device and procedure that is CE marked and backed by more than 90 independent validation studies.

SkinPen Precision’s patent and single-use sterile needle cartridge is built with safety in mind. Ultrasonically sealed SkinPen is also surrounded by a proprietary BioSheath that acts as a barrier to prevent cross contamination between procedures.

What happens during the procedure?

Topical anaesthetic will be applied for 20 minutes prior the treatment for additional comfort.

Dr Sabrina will carefully assess your skin to establish if you are a candidate and will thoroughly explain the procedure, risks and benefits prior to treatment. The SkinPen is carefully glided across the area of concern using the Skinfuse LIFT HG to create tens of thousands of microscopic puncture wounds which stimulates the natural repair process and activates collagen and elastin production. Erythema should be visible with possible signs of blood spotting, this gives us indication that the depth is at its correct point in order to penetrate deep enough into the skin
